First Announcement

3rd International Workshop
"Thermal Plasma Torches and Technologies"
(25-31 August 1997, Novosibirsk, Russia)

The 3rd International Workshop "Thermal Plasma Torches and Technologies" is dedicated to

Prof. Dr.-Eng., Academician of Russian Ac. Sci. Mikhail F.Zhukov

due to his 80th anniversary. Workshop will takes place 25-31 August 1997 immediately after 13th International Symposium on Plasma Chemistry (Beijing, China). 3rd International Workshop continues the series of the international meetings since the 1st Symposium in Novosibirsk, Russia in 1988 and the second one in Frunze (Bishkek), Kirgizstan in 1990.

Program of 3rd Workshop will includes the following subject topics:

1) Basic processes in thermal plasma torches - state of art and trends of development;
2) Diagnostics of homogeneous and heterogeneous thermal plasma flows;
3) Modelling of the procesess of interphase momentum, heat and mass exchange in the dusted plasma flow;
4) Methods of superfast quenching, hardening and modification of surface and matirals, plasma processing of powders, including the procesess at "particle-surface" interaction and coatings formation;
5) Investigations conjugated with different applications of thermal plasma torches.

Participants:

The preliminary list of the invited participants of the Workshop including foreign participants and participants from the CIS will be fixed (about 60) and will be consisted of the leaders on thermal plasma science and technology from Universities, Scientific Centres and some Companies working in this area.

Registration fee:

The Organizing Committee will try to cover most part of the expenses connected with organization of the Workshop so that the registration fee will be not much than 300 US$ (for the foreign participants) and 60 US$ (for the participants from CIS). This registration fee will covers the expenses connected with publication of the Proceedings, organization of the excursions, Conference banquet and so on.

Proceedings:

The special Proceedings of the Workshop (special collection of invited papers) in English will be published and will be available at the beginning of the Workshop. Participants invited will submit the extended papers (about 15 pages including tables, figures, photos etc., format A4, single space) prepared in Word6.0 for Windows (font Times New Roman is preferable). One printed hard copy of the completely prepared paper must be sent to us (address see below). Besides, the authors have to submit its copy on diskette (with printed original) or send its by email.

Languages:

The working languages of the Workshop will be English and Russian. Simultaneous interpretation will be provided.

Important travel information:

We inform the participants of the Workshop that there are direct airlines Frankfurt-Novosibirsk and Beijing-Novosibirsk. The latter airline may be interesting for the participants of 13th International Symposium on Plasma Chemistry (Beijing, China) which be held immediately before our Meeting.
